Rejoice, Undersiders! For it is spring! Everything is greening up to a degree (less so in the American West, where I am,) and the suffocating heat is returning (can you tell I don’t like summer heat?)
I will forgo my normal post this week due to time constraints, and save upcoming features for next week (don’t worry, contributors, you aren’t forgotten!) Instead, let’s take a moment to call our moms, hug them if we still can, reminisce on the good times if we can’t, and lavish them with gifts, especially those they like best: Us!
I have lost too many of my own mothers, including my own sweet mother who raised me, my first wonderful stepmother, and my amazing paternal grandmother, all in the last few years. But I still have a mother-in-law who will do anything for you, a second wonderful stepmother, and of course my own beautiful wife who is mother to our children. I treasure you all!
So let’s take a step back from politics, Twitter takeovers, celebrity trials, overseas wars, chocolates and roses, baseball, Supreme Court justices, and even stories (gasp!) for at least this one day. And if you know someone out there for whom Mother’s Day is not a joyous one, reach out and spread some love.
Until next time, ciao, adios, and adieu! We will you see next week on Underside Stories.
